The Goodbye to Eva Collection was created in the summer of 2015 quite unintentionally during the course of events after my Grandmother's passing. Upon learning that a sickness had progressed to the stage where she could not speak and was home on morphine I decided to drive from Colorado to Maine to bid my final goodbyes to her. One lesson that I learned during that trip if that life sometimes takes it own course and there is little we can do about it. She unfortunately passed while I was on route, only 9 hours away. In that moment my journey shifted into a new purpose as I continued with the goal of assisting my family members sort through her years of collected belongings. What I did not realize at the time was that this journey was much more significant than I could ever have imaged. In her passing I learned more about her and my own self that to this day I am still taking it all in. As I recall the events of the week retrospectively I realize that she led me through a journey that would forever change my life. In her passing she gave me a gift that is nothing short of amazing.
The Photographs in this collection were taken in and around her home in Rockland, Maine. I made an effort to visit some of her favorite places to say Goodbye in my own personal way. I hope you enjoy a small glimpse of a journey that Photographs could not begin to capture though I made my best effort to do so.
